SUCCESSFUL entrepreneur and award-winning speaker Cindy Carpenter founded, grown and managed three different businesses during her career. She uses this experience to help individuals build customers, relationships, and the bottom-line. Carpenter is fiercely independent and a self-starter. Even before enrolling in college, her unbridled entrepreneurial spirit could not be tamed. At the age of 15, she harnessed that energy and launched her first business- CR Design Studio, and airbrush sign business. The business ran successfully for 10 years. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in 1985 from California State University, Fullerton, she launched Carpenter & Associates, a print and packaging design firm, which she owned and managed from 1985 to 2003. Her portfolio included work for Warner Bros., RCA, Sara Lee, EZ-UP Shelters, Harry & David Gifts, and ARCO, among others. Carpenter also taught part-time at Cal State Fullerton for five years while running her business.
After reaching the top of her game in the print & packaging industry, she thirsted for new and challeng?ing opportunities. She founded a wire EDM (electrical discharge machining) shop, called EMX, in?the fall of 2004. Each year, for the first three years, she tripled the size of the business. In the fall of 2008, she sold the company to Hoosier Plastics. “Retired” from her first three businesses, Carpenter joined Toastmasters International, a worldwide?non-profit educational organization, in 2010. Since that time, she became Chair of the District 12’s Toastmasters Speaker’s Bureau, setting attendance records every month for the year she was chair; was elected president of “Social Media Toastmasters, a club she conceived and chartered in record-setting time; was Chair of the 2013 Spring Conference, shattering all previous attendance records in the District’s 25 year history (including being the highest rated conference from attendees satisfaction surveys); was voted “Outstanding Member” in 2011 and also received the coveted and prestigious title “Toastmaster of the Year” in 2013 from a field of 2,500 members. Carpenter, who lives in Corona, is a lifelong Southern California resident. She has been married to her husband David for 22 years and has one 21-year-old son, Hunter. Her hobbies include organic gardening, architectural salvage, sculpture, gourmet cooking, reading and anything fun.
